The Future of Social Economy

7-9 July, Diesis Network’s Annual Gathering: The Grand Finale!

The digital future of the social economy rests on two essential pillars: organisations equipped to harness data and digital technologies, and people with the skills and competences to use them effectively.

Over the past years, two flagship EU initiatives have helped drive this transformation. DO Impact supported social economy organisations and SMEs in leveraging digital, data and AI capabilities, while baSE developed the skills and learning pathways needed for the twin digital and green transitions.

From 7 to 9 July, Diesis Network’s Annual Gathering will host the grand finale of both initiatives, bringing together practitioners, policymakers and ecosystem builders to showcase results, exchange experiences, and explore the next steps towards a more resilient, skilled and digitally empowered social economy.

Building Our Future Together

Europe is entering a decisive decade. Competitiveness, resilience, and prosperity are becoming central priorities, while the green and digital transitions, demographic change, and growing territorial inequalities are reshaping the economic landscape. Responding to these challenges requires economic models that combine innovation with inclusion and long-term sustainability. For Diesis Network, responding to this new reality also requires evolution. It is in this context that the network’s new Board of Directors has been elected for the next four-year mandate.

Stronger Networks, Stronger Regions: Why Systemic Change Matters for Europe’s Social Economy

Strong social economy organisations need strong connections around them. When networks are fragmented, local knowledge can remain isolated, opportunities for cooperation can be missed, and the link between policy and practice becomes harder to build. That is why Strengthening Social Economy Networks for Impact and Resilience looks beyond individual organisations to the wider ecosystem: connecting people, networks, policies and territories so they can reinforce one another. Over the next three years, the initiative will bring together macroregional cooperation, capacity building, financial support, policy dialogue and awareness campaigns to strengthen the social economy across Europe.

Good Support: How Digital innovation is improving delivery of social services in the cities and regions

Across Europe, municipalities are asked to deliver more care at home with limited staff, budgets and administrative capacity. Social economy organisations often deliver these services on the ground, yet much of their time still goes into paper timesheets, phone coordination and manual reconciliation of hours and invoices. In Wrocław, more than 600 municipal carers use Good Support, and over 1.4 million hours of care have been managed through the system. This shows how a digital solution can support the organisation and delivery of social services on a large scale.
