Energy communities enable citizens to take an active role in the energy transition. Social economy organisations, particularly cooperatives, have been pioneers in this field. Yet challenges remain in ensuring that everyone can participate and benefit, including people in vulnerable situations.

The Policy Lab will focus on two key areas: involving local communities and connecting energy and social economy policies. Participants will discuss barriers to participation, including access to information, skills and finance, and explore how public authorities and social economy organisations can work together to address them.

The event is primarily aimed at local, regional and EU policymakers and public administrations, but is also open to social economy organisations, civil society, academics and other interested stakeholders.

The Policy Lab builds on work carried out by REVES, its member cities and regions, EURICSE, Diesis Network and Social Economy Europe. It takes place in the framework of the Strengthening European Networks for Impact and Resilience in the Social Economy project.
